Tom Castiglia (aka Tomcat), Head Honcho

Tom, owner of Tabloid Salon and Barbershop in OrlandoTom grew up a greaser and a punk-rocker in group home in Jacksonville, messing around with cars, music, and hair. He made a career out of hairdressing, now with twenty-two years of experience in the beauty industry and a State Board certified instructor. He's been from big corporate hairdressing to chains, to mom and pop's, to best of Orlando salons. He's lived all over the state and across the country, finding his niche to be here in Orlando. His experience has left him ready for any situation and any client. He's been through thousands of haircuts and colors, hundreds of different situations, and payed attention the whole way.

After listening to customers from all different backgrounds talk, watching them spend money, and watching other hairdressers work. After all this, he realized it all made sense. Customers want a warm, comfortable environment, top-notch service and organization, access to products and information that makes them feel and look great. Stylists want a great environment to work in and great products to sell and use. Everyone wants to be successful and to satisfy their customers. Staying educated to the market, products, ingredients, techniques and methods help everyone at Tabloid to be absolutely sure that we are good at what we do, all the while having interesting fun and talking just a little good humored smack. Customers and stylists want the same things. Tom opened the Tabloid Salon & Barbershop 4 years ago with these very ideas in mind.

Tom started Knucklehead Brand Products 7 years ago, and the line is continually expanding. You can find Knucklehead grooming products for sale here at Tabloid, on Ebay, and in stores from California to Japan.

Stefanie Brabec, Management & Retail Vixen

When you call Tabloid, Stef's who you speak to! Originally from Oklahoma, she moved here 4 years ago to come to Full Sail where she studied Recording Arts and Entertainment Business. Her business degree helped introduce here to the business world and  prepare her to handle the business side of Tabloid Salon and Knucklehead Brand.

Making your appointments, helping you with retail, being nice to you, making fun of you, and making you coffee & tea are some of the things she'll be doing during your visit at Tabloid. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask her!

Chris DeSanty, Hair Guy

Chris grew up in New Hampshire working in dungeons, kitchens, and machine shops. He needed a change, and moved to Florida six years ago. While here, Chris went to Paul Mitchell hair school and graduated in 2004. He tried a few different salons from high-end to mom & pop's, finally finding himself a home at Tabloid.

Chris's preference in hairstyling ranges from obnoxiously long to incredibly short women's hair, and surprisingly prefers to keep it on the natural side. Though he favors cutting to coloring, to him there's nothing more relaxing than laying a head full of foils down.

For guys' hair he ranges from doing 40's and 50's style standard issue dude cuts to really aggressive fades. Surprisingly, some of his best work comes the morning after a wild night of partying...

Deyah Cantrell, Bad Arse Hair Chick

Deyah began her career sweeping up and washing hair at the young age of 14 part-time after school. Someone soon mentioned to her that she should go to cosmetology school and that she become a hair stylist. Easy enough, she thought “Wow, what a good idea!” The next week she was in school and on her way to her career. While in school, she became a makeup artist for Aveda (because in Florida, you don't need a license to do makeup). After she was licensed, she continued to work for Aveda as both a stylist and makeup artist.

Somewhere around age 20, due to temporary insanity, Deyah joined the Army. Though she enjoyed her tour, she's glad to be a citizen again (and the whole time she was in the Army, she was still doing hair). She spent a summer in France doing nails and when she came back to the U.S., she returned to working  for Aveda. She eventually found Keune and became an educator for the company, which then led her to Tabloid.

On a day to day basis, Deyah's specialty is color. She also does custom color hairpieces for weddings, special events, and costumes. For haircutting, she is comfortable doing just about any style for women and men. She also enjoys doing up-dos!

Eddie Friend, Hair Guru

Eddie Friend is a legal alien from Brazil who moved here when he was a kid. He was a beauty school drop-out of the Flying Emory Board Academy, until attending and graduating from Woody's Hairstyling Institute. He likes to approach haircuts as if they are hedges and he's Edward Scissorhands, and believes doing hair is half talent and half psychotherapy. He's a Cancer sign who loves pineapples, and thinks some hairdos remind him of pineapples...

Eddie is an all-around artist who paints, draws, and sews. Doing hair comes natural! He prefers more modern guy's and girl's cuts, and loves doing color. He can also do a mean fingerwave!
